Hello! My name is Amira, I am a 2D animator and illustrator, as well as hobbyist music producer. If you are interested in my work, feel free to peruse my gallery!
One of my earliest memories takes place in Johannesburg, 2004, watching Dreamworks' "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron" with my cousin. This continued long into my childhood, kickstarting a multiple-year obsession with horses. I remember rewatching the extras section every day. My parents were sick of me.One particular section I loved was a tutorial - how to draw Spirit, taught none other than the legendary James Baxter, who was the senior supervising animator on the film. This introduced me to fundamental art skills that would kickstart my passion for drawing. In 2024 I visited the “Playgrounds In Motion” festival, where I had the privilege to meet James Baxter in person. He was warm and friendly from beginning to end, and I am so honoured to have had the opportunity to meet someone who continues to inspire new generations of 2D animators.
